We sat with Lucas, a member of our development team here at Scantek.

A gentle soul, Lucas is an avid team player, who quite possibly has a sweet addiction.

We got to know Lucas a little better in Born Identity.

How long have you worked at Scantek?

6 Months.

What is your job title, and what does your job entail?

I am a Software Engineer. I participate directly with the team in bringing ideas to fruition.

I primarily focus on our web platforms.

I take absolute pride in taking a project from concept to implementation and all the way through to maintenance.

I love what I do!

What do you like most about your job?

The collaboration.

I don’t think there has ever been a project in which every department has not collaborated.

It’s an important part of what makes Scantek a success and very unique.

I love that there is always something going on and it is a very exciting environment to be part of.

What is the best career advice you’ve learnt so far?

There is only so much a person can achieve and learn on their own.

I believe teams are key for growth, both professionally and personally.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

I have always had a great interest in the education and health sectors. Some of the best experiences I have ever had were while teaching.

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

I enjoy being immersed in new topics and learning new things. My curiosity and need to find out how things work often get the better of me, but I love to learn.

I also enjoy learning new languages and not just in programming specifically!.

What’s a fun fact about you that many people may not know? I am actually very shy. Where’s your favourite place in the world? Nowhere specific. But if you had asked me, what was the most memorable, I would say Japan. Honestly, I just enjoy travelling and getting to know the incredible variety of people and cultures around the world. What is your motto or personal mantra? Believing that people can always be better and help make the world a better place. If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why? I can’t think of anyone…
