Introducing Jesse
Another month has passed, and we are well on our way into 2022.
In this month’s Born Identity, we sat with Jesse, one of our software engineers and got to know him a little better.
Jesse has been a part of the Scantek family for over a year. He is a beautiful hybrid of technical and jargon-free capability. A healer at heart and a true people person, Jesse is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
Here’s what he had to say about himself.
What is your job title, and what does your job entail?
I’m a Software Engineer.
I design, develop, and oversee API implementation for Scantek.
What do you like most about your job?
The team! Everyone at Scantek is great. We are all very capable and like-minded.
It’s also really exciting to build products used in the market. I love that we have the opportunity to refine our solutions and make a real difference for the customer.
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
When designing systems, it’s essential to get your layering right.
A simple but effective question I regularly ask myself is, “should this thing know about that thing.”
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I would like to be a Therapist or something related to helping people heal and function better in day to day life.
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
I like getting into nature, spending time with my family and hanging out with friends.
What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?
I’m a menace on the dance floor
Where’s your favourite place in the world?
What is your motto or personal mantra?
“Don’t stress! It doesn’t help, and if you are stressed, don’t stress about that; it’ll make it worse.”
If you could meet anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Künzang Dorje Rinpoche.
I’ve heard some fascinating stories about him and his ways of teaching meditation, and I’d like to taste that. However, it sounds a bit scary.
Three words to best describe you?
Insightful, persistent, approachable
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
My heart. Literally!
What TV show/movie are you ashamed to admit you, love?
Ummm… I don’t feel shame about the TV I love.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Be able to heal trauma.
What is one food that you cannot resist?
Blackberries!
