Introducing Henry

The born identity is a new Scantek blog series that will surface the stories of the amazing individuals behind our Scantek ecosystem.

From Developers and Engineers to Marketers, Accounts, and those dedicated to Customer Success. Every month we’ll get to the heart of our team so you can get to know us a little better and find out what makes us tick.

This month, we meet Henry - Our dark chocolate-loving, coffee addict problem solver who has been with us for over four and a half years.

What is your role at Scantek?

Senior Software Architect.

What does a Senior Software Architect do?

I mostly work on Scantek’s back-end –  Meaning I make sure our infrastructure and code are running in the cloud.

I also help out wherever I’m needed, whether it be a Telstra release, the Banned Drinkers Register (BDR), or Safety Scan. If I can help, I will.

What do you like most about your job?

Problem-solving. Every day it’s something new! Technology is continually evolving, and we need to keep learning and adapting to keep ahead of the curve.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learnt so far?

Change is inevitable. Don’t fight it – as it’s usually for the best!  Also, don’t overcomplicate things. Keep it simple and design expecting change.

What would you do for a career if you weren’t doing this one?

I love engineering, so probably a different discipline of engineering – electrical or chemical?!

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Relaxing. Going on holiday. Going to the beach. Having a BBQ with friends.

Also, I like playing indoor cricket, squash or go hiking.

Tell us about one thing you like

I’m a big fan of Johnny Cash.

Tell us about one thing you dislike

These type of questions!

Where’s your favourite place in the world?

The Kruger national park.

What is your personal mantra?

If it were easy, everyone would do it.

If you could meet anyone, who would it be and why?

Elon Musk. So I can ask him what he thinks of Craig.

Spot Craig!

Three words that describe you

Hard-working, positive, motivated.

What’s the one thing you can’t live without?

What TV show/movie are you ashamed to admit you, love?

I’m just going to say it – I’m a sucker for true crime documentaries.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Telekinesis, that way, I wouldn’t have to get up from the couch to grab a beer.

What is one food that you cannot resist?

Dark chocolate.
