The Born Identity – Anita Lee

Join us as we sit with Anita, our Senior Project Manager and get to know her a little better.

Who is someone you admire, and why?

Grace Tame. She is courageous, driven, insightful, carefully considered and articulate. She calls a spade a spade and is unapologetic about it.

Not only did she go through a horrendous time in her life, but she re-lives it every time she speaks publicly. She deals with nasty people who consistently try to break her, but she also keeps holding her head high and fighting her cause.

She truly is amazing.

Tell me three pet peeves.

Laziness, pretentiousness, and winter.

What’s a typical day like for you?

Meetings, meetings, meetings!

My days consist of organised chaos. Working a four-day often means I have a lot to fit into one day.

I am constantly context-switching between projects, clients and staff.

I am often running from one thing to the next, but I somehow manage to get all the important things done.

Do you have skills or talents that most people don’t know about?

I’m pretty decent with power tools and can pick things up with my toes (not power tools… yet).

Where would you be if you could be anywhere other than here right this minute?

The Maldives.

Flashback to when you were ten years old. What do you want to be when you grow up?

I kept telling everyone I wanted to be an accountant because that was what my aunty was doing. Thankfully, I snapped out of it!

If we went to happy hour, what would you order?

An Anita-Rita. Sorry, a margarita.

Finish this sentence. On Sunday mornings, you can usually find me…

In bed.

How do you want people to remember you?

Someone who was aware, insightful and interested in things greater than themselves and gave a sh*t.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?

I’m a great problem solver – I’ll always find a way to get something done while focusing on the outcome we’re trying to achieve. I’m also driven, committed, and positive, and I can find a way to work with anyone or any team.

Name three words that describe you.

Passionate, driven, and authentic.

How do you think your colleagues would describe you?

Probably the same as above (I hope)!

What do you want to make sure you do before you die?

Go to the Maldives!!!

What’s a goal you have for yourself that you want to accomplish in the next year?

To be physically healthier, fitter and stronger.

Name a few of your daily habits (other than a shower and brushing your teeth).

Having a decent breakfast to set myself up for the day and reading a book to unwind before heading to bed.

What publications do you regularly read?

I don’t subscribe to any publications; however, things I read regularly focus on social justice, health, science or politics.

What are you happiest doing when you’re not working?

Being on the water or on holiday somewhere away from Perth – preferably somewhere that allows me to swim at good beaches, explore nature, and/or good food.

What are some causes you care about?

Anti-slavery (human trafficking), gender equity, ending domestic violence, and protecting vulnerable children.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love travelling, so generally planning my next holiday!

Outside of that, I love getting some soul food from the beach or forest, hiking, exploring nature, doing something adventurous or spending time catching up with friends and family.

I enjoy DIY – we are currently building a house, so once we move in, I’ll spend a lot of time on house projects and landscaping.

What would be your personal motto?

Ain’t nothing gonna break my stride (this is also my ringtone).
